Ellsworth seeing off Wreaths Across America on Sunday

ELLSWORTH - The city of Ellsworth and the Hancock County Sheriff's Department are getting ready to host the "2017 Wreaths Across America" journey to Arlington National Cemetery.

Starting at 9:15 a.m this Sunday at the Maine Coast Mall a special ceremony will be held as a way to kick off the trip to Arlington.

This is a time for community members to come together to remember those who've paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Hancock County Sheriff Scott Kane said "It's important to us to show families how much we appreciate the things that you and I are allowed to do. The freedom that we have, the special events that we're able to participate in. Those families have given other family members their life so we can enjoy the lifestyle that we have. That's the least thing we can do is honor and respect them."

Veterans, business owners and members of the public are encouraged to attend and show their support by seeing the Wreath Across America trucks through and by posting messages on signs.
