Keeping your pets safe during the holidays

VEAZIE - We all love spoiling our pets, even more so during the holidays.

But you have to be careful on what leftover foods you give them. The carcass of the turkey are vets main concern because of the bones in the turkey.

Decorations are also a concern especially the tinsel on the ornaments or garland that animals can tear apart.

Veterinarian Michael Mccaw said "There are a number of things that an animal can eat so you have to be very careful with the types of ornaments that you use and put on your tree. Certainly the glass ornaments things like that you want to keep away from the lower parts of the tree because the cats will knock them off and break them."

As far as having company over he says dogs are more tolerant than cats when there are a lot of people in your home, but just make sure to put those furry friends that get nervous by themselves in a room with the resources they need.
