BUCKSPORT - While Black Friday is a good time to get discounted and special deals on retail items.

Towns like Bucksport is promoting a new way of saving while also investing in your community with "Small Business Saturday."

This Saturday at 10 a.m., the Bucksport Area Chamber of Commerce is holding a ribbon cutting ceremony to kick off the event in front of the office.

People will have the opportunity to take pictures, sign pledges and show their receipts from local businesses they've shopped at to get a chance of winning $100 dollars and other local items.

Leslie Wombacher, BACC, said "It's truly to support local business. The chamber does a contest that we call "Think Local First" and it's a hash tag. And we start it on Small Business Saturday and we run it through Christmas."

While the shopping does have to be from a local small business, it doesn't have to be in Bucksport.

People can still participate by shopping in the surrounding towns like Searsport, Castine and Blue Hill.

They have until January 1st to put their names in the drawing.
