GREENE - A funeral home employee was killed last night following a crash in the town of Greene.

State police said the victim was driving a transport van when he was struck from behind by an SUV on Route 202.

The impact sent the van hurdling several hundred yards down the road where it went down an embankment and crashed into a stand of trees.

Richard Charest of Winthrop, 59 was killed in the crash. He had been transporting a body back to a funeral home when the accident happened around 6:00 p.m.

The SUV was operated by Donald Asselin, 58, of Sabattus. He has minor injuries.
