The organization families first has officially purchased a home in Ellsworth that will house families with minor children.
The idea is to offer these families aid and skills so they can learn to be self-sufficient before going back out on their own.
Plans for the home began in June of 2015 and now that they finally own the house, they can move on to the next phase of the project.
Dawn Coffin, from Families First, said "We definitely still need money even though we reached our goal to purchase the house and do the minimum renovations. We still want to make the house more energy efficient by adding heat pumps and solar so we're still looking for money. And we're always always looking for volunteers."
Aside from renovations in the home, they also are hoping to renovate the barn to create more living space and a day care center.
They are hoping to have the project finished by spring.
Anyone who is interested in volunteering can give them a call at 460-3711.
