Police track down man who allegedly stole several cars during escape

WASHINGTON COUNTY - State police announced Saturday afternoon they have arrested a man who had eluded them for two days, while stealing multiple vehicles in Washington County.

They say he also damaged thousands of dollars worth of property along the way.

Troopers and sheriffs in Washington County had been looking for Jonathan Baldwin throughout the area. They believe Baldwin stole two vehicles in Roque Bluffs and Franklin, and police had been searching for him the last two days.

A resident reportedly spotted him Friday night and a K9 unit was brought in to assist, but police lost track of him and they believe a silver Dodge pickup connected to Baldwin was stolen from Harrington and later found Saturday morning - without Baldwin in the vehicle.

Later Saturday morning, a white ford escape was stolen in Cherryfield that police believe is also connected.

Troopers now say they have brought Baldwin into custody.
