NORTHFIELD - A deadly crash involving a blueberry truck in the town of Northfield claims one life.

The two-vehicle accident happened on Route 192 near Box 1580 around 2:13 p.m. on Monday

The Washington County Sheriff's Office says a driver of a white, Chevy pick-up, 18-year-old Cameron Roberts of Marshfield, died at the scene.

An early investigation determined Roberts' vehicle was traveling north when his car crossed the center line and crashed into the blueberry truck, partially loaded with blueberries.

The jaws of life had to be used to get a 16-year-old passenger out of the pickup, who was taken by Life Flight to Bangor in stable condition.

The driver of the blueberry truck, 44-year-old Shawn Sprague of Addison, was taken to Downeast Community Hospital with minor injuries.

The road was closed down for several hours.

The crash remains under investigation.

The Sheriff's Office received assistance from the Maine Marine Patrol, the Maine Forrest Service, the Machias Fire Department and the Marshfield Fire Department.
