STATEWIDE — Healthy Acadia is accepting applications to the 2021 Diabetes Prevention Lifestyle Change Program.
The 12-month program is offered through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Diabetes Prevention Program.
Lifestyle coaches work one on one with individuals to implement healthy lifestyle changes to help Mainers who are at high risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.
“But there’s usually barriers in the way for people to be able to achieve those goals, so we look at those and help them make new lifestyle changes replacing their old habits with new habits and teaching them how to go about that,” said Healthy Acadia Community Health Program Manager Angela Fochesato.
After a year in the program, Healthy Acadia offers participants a chronic disease support group for those who feel they still need support.
Enroll on Healthy Acadia’s Facebook page before the program begins on May 18.
