MEDWAY – Two people were taken to the hospital after their vehicle hit a moose on I-95 Wednesday evening.
According to a member of the East Millinocket Fire Department, it happened around 5:00 p.m. on Interstate 95 near mile marker 240.
Police say two people were traveling southbound when they hit a moose.
We’re told the male driver of the vehicle was out of the car when authorities arrived with minor, non-life threatening injuries.
A female passenger was trapped inside and had to be extricated from the vehicle.
Both were taken to Millinocket Regional Hospital.
We’re told the female passenger was then transported by a Life Flight ground crew to a Bangor hospital with non-life threatening head injuries.
One lane of the highway was shut down while crews worked to clear the scene.
East Millinocket Fire and Ambulance, East Millinocket Police, Medway Fire, a game warden and state police all provided assistance.
