PORTLAND (WGME) – Authorities are trying to identify a homeless man who was found in a burning tent.
Officials said someone driving on Interstate 295 through South Portland noticed some flames in a wooded area.
When emergency crews arrived they discovered the remains of a man who was inside the tent when it caught fire.
Officials said the site is a popular place for the local homeless to camp, but there was no one else at the location when the fire started.
An autopsy will be conducted on the victim later today.
