Man looking for clemency from Maine Governor

AUGUSTA - A man serving a life sentence is asking Governor LePage for a second chance.

Richard Steeves, 75, is blamed for the deaths of six people including two from Maine others from New Hampshire and Ohio.

According the the Associated Press, Steeves has spent all but 18 months of his life in state custody since he was 12.

He was found criminally insane for the New Hampshire and Ohio deaths, but was never tried for the ones in Maine.

Steeves said he was sexually abused as a child, he said he's rehabilitated himself and has helped others while in prison.

A decision on granting clemency is pending.
