Bucksport Fire and three other towns responded to a call around 8:30 Saturday morning that the mill was on fire.
Like with the East Millinocket mill fire earlier this week, it is believed that equipment used in deconstructing the building sparked the flames.
Assistant Chief Michael Denning spoke about the challenge of fighting a blaze in such a large, broken-down structure.
“Basically you're going into an area, it looks like a bomb went off. Everything is all over the place. Then you have the challenge of pulling hose up eight stories.”
Denning says crews did a fine job of putting down the flames, and it shouldn't affect progress of the deconstruction.
