President Trump releases budget blueprint

Written by Newsroom

President Trump releases budget blueprint
0shares

WASHINGTON D.C. – President Trump has released his budget plan and it’s already raising concerns.

The spending blueprint for the next year includes big cuts in spending for the state department, the environmental protection agency and others.

Meanwhile, the Defense Department would see an additional $54 billion in spending.

Senator Angus King released a statement saying he recognizes the need to reduce federal spending, but he has a “hard time seeing how eliminating heating assistance, cutting medical research and ending economic development funding will do more than harm people, families and businesses across Maine.”

He also feels cutting the State Department budget so drastically will jeopardize our security and make us much less safe from global threats.

Any final budget changes will have to be approved by Congress.
