PORTLAND (WGME) – Portland police surround an apartment complex for hours Sunday morning, telling residents to stay inside.
A large police response that led to multiple arrests followed.
Officers said they executed a search warrant at an apartment complex off Forest Ave. in relation to a brutal beating and robbery that happened in South Portland Saturday. They arrested and charged three suspects

Officers with guns drawn, surrounded the Wellesley Estates Apartment Complex for more than four hours Sunday morning.
Investigators with Portland police said they were assisting South Portland police with executing a search warrant
Police said they were led here after a woman was found brutally beaten inside a South Portland motel Saturday night.
They said her room was trashed and her car was stolen. It was later found in Portland.
Officers said their suspects were held up in the apartment and refused to cooperate when they arrived prompting the large police response.
Residents were told to stay inside their homes while officers attempted to make arrests
WGME was there as at least 5 people were detained, many of them were searched and then placed in police cruisers. Of those five, South Portland police said three were charged.
Nicole Haycock, Benjamin Martineau and Aria Pomerleau are each facing various charges, including burglary, robbery and aggravated assault.
Detectives removed bags of evidence from the apartment where neighbors said the suspects were held up.
The woman who stated she lives here was detained earlier in the day by officers, but was released soon after.
Investigators said no one was hurt during the incident.
All three suspects who were arrested remain in jail Monday morning.
