BREWER – It’s the time of year when a lot of Mainer’s have a case of cabin fever?
The Penobscot Fly Fishers helped cure that on Sunday, getting people out of their homes to celebrate the Maine outdoors despite the cold temps.
They held their cabin fever event to help people get excited about spring, but the event coordinator says people forget all about the beauty the state has to offer during the winter months.
Chairman Mike Hegarty said “There’s ice fishing, snow shoeing, snowmobiling and its one of those things that if you’re not careful you’ll wake up one day and say oh I didn’t know I could do all those things. We have a beautiful spot to do those things and in particular for the younger folks.”
The event brought fisherman, artists, authors and people from around the state.
An archery range was also set up for young kids to get them excited about the upcoming season.
