BANGOR – Husson University students came together to care for patients struggling with opioid addiction.
That was the focus at the “5th Annual Inter-professional Evening of Conversation” Thursday night.
More than 300 Husson University students in varying health degrees watched a case presentation with an actor portraying a patient suffering from opioid addiction. The students then broke into groups to discuss a plan of action for care and treatment.
Doctor Peg Olson said inter-professional communication is key to reducing some of the more staggering statistics.
Dr. Olson stated “All of this is so the students understand that they need to talk to other healthcare professionals to be able to decrease the number of instances of miscommunications that result in death.”
Doctor Olson went on to say 440,000 people each year die due to communication errors.
