BANGOR- A controversial start to Donald Trump’s presidency, after the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals voted to overturn his travel ban, preventing anyone from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the US.
Now, he is introducing a new travel and immigration ban– this one gaining more support.
Senator Susan Collins stopped by the studio to talk about a variety of topics, including the heavily debated ban.
Collins says with modifications to this one– such as allowing permanent legal residents into and out of the country and welcoming interpreters who helped save our troops– the ban will better do what was originally intended.
But, she believes that the entire topic could be handled in a better way.
“Both President Obama and President Trump are trying to do immigration reform by executive order. I think it would be way better if it were done by congress,” said Senator Collins.
The new plans could come out as early as Friday.
