STATEWIDE – Game officials have renewed the call for safety following more snowmobile accidents.
There were two more Tuesday, including one in Tim Pond township where two sleds collided head-on. Game officials say it was around noon when Ryan Jones, 24, of Jefferson came across a corner when he was struck by Michael Ouelette, 52, of Topsham who was coming from the opposite direction.
Both men suffered serious injuries and it appears speed was a factor.
Another man was hospitalized after a man struck an uneven patch of snow in Casco, sending him flying into the air.
Game officials say thousands of riders are taking advantage of the great trail conditions, but they’re urged to slow down and drive safely.
There were two deadly snowmobile accidents over the weekend, the 5th and 6th of the season.
