WASHINGTON D.C. – Senator Angus King is joining republican senator Deb Fischer from Nebraska in a push for paid family and medical leave.
The senators are reintroducing the “Strong Families Act.”
The legislation would make paid leave available on an hourly basis and it would be different from vacation and sick leave.
Employers would be given a 25 percent tax credit for each hour of paid leave given. They would also be prohibited from retaliating against employees who participate in the program. Similar legislation was introduced by both senators during the last session of congress.
