BANGOR- Want to solve all the country’s problems? Well a professor believes the answer to doing so is fairly easy.
Professor Steven Fesmire delivered a lecture today at the Gracie Theater at Husson University, focusing on moral fundamentalism, an idea that there is only one way of thinking about things.
He believes this way of thinking is a major problem in our country.
“I think if we could try to back off on the idea that I’ve got the single right way to think about this, and my way of formulating the problem is the only way, we would give more of what’s best of ourselves and we could give more of what’s best in ourselves, and we could meet every situation with what’s best in us and not egg on the problem so much,” said Dr. Fesmire, a professor at Green Mountain College.
He believes people need to converge on ideas to fix problems, even if they disagree about the cause of the issues in the first place.
Several people turned out to hear Dr. Fesmire speak, and the lecture was followed by a question and answer session.
