STATEWIDE – Summer may be a few months away, but it’s not too early to consider helping less fortunate children get meals when school is out.
Right now, the state has a sponsor organization providing meals for hungry students during the summer in all sixteen counties. But there is a need for more locations.
Adriane Ackdoyd from Maine Department of education stated “There’s a great need. Unfortunately, nearly half of school age children in Maine are eligible during the school year to receive free or reduced-price school meal. So, there’s a very high need in the state to feed Maine’s children.”
If your organization is interested in becoming a sponsor, just contact the Maine Department of Education.
