BANGOR – A group of women from Ellsworth are speaking out against the president’s temporary travel ban.
They call themselves “Indivisible” and this chapter is one of several thousand established throughout the country.
According to its website the goal of Indivisible is to “Resist Trump’s Agenda” and “Focus on Local Advocacy.”
Today, the women spoke with representatives from the offices of Senators Susan Collins and Angus King and Congressman Bruce Poliquin.
One protestor Sherry Fletcher stated “We’re concerned that it’s affecting people worldwide. It’s affecting Americans who are here with green cards and are afraid to travel.”
“We’re telling people they can’t come here because of their religion, that they have to be isolated in these Muslim countries, primarily because they’re not us.” added another protestor Majo Keleshian.
Keleshian adds that her father escaped Turkey to come to the United States and for her, this is personal.
