STATEWIDE – The American Lung Association has released its report card for Maine and it’s not the best.
They released the 15th annual “State of Tobacco Control” report this afternoon.
The report shows that tobacco use is still a leading cause of preventable death and disease here in Maine.
While the state did earn an “A” for smoke free air, it was given low marks for tobacco prevention funding and tobacco taxes.
Because of this, they are calling for Maine to raise the minimum age of sales to 21 and enact a cigarette tax increase.
