MADISON – The many mill closures around the state have caused turmoil in some towns, but one is finally starting its recovery process.
Eight months ago the town of Madison was rattled by the closing of their paper mill, but they finally have hope. The paper mill was recently bought by New Mill Capital Holdings of New York.
But the town isn’t getting another paper mill, the new owners are a redeveloping company who act as a fixer up for the mill before they sell it to a business that can use it in the future.
“It’s unlikely there will be another paper manufacturer to the degree it was here in Madison, but there are several opportunities” said Tim Curtis, the Town Manager of Madison.
They haven’t decided what will be done after the renovation, and although their skeptical about losing their paper mill, Curtis says hes optimistic for the future.
“Were ready to look forward and i think it’s going to look good.”
