BANGOR – “The Life of David’ is a new art exhibit at the University of Maine Museum of Art in Downtown Bangor.
The artist, Jared Cowan, created the artwork to allow viewers a glimpse into the ups and downs in the life of Emilio David Mazzeo.
Mazzeo was a marathon runner and, along with being the 4th person to pass the finish line of the Boston Marathon, was also part of the U.S. Olympic running team in the London Summer Olympics.
Mazzeo lost both of his legs later in life, causing a great deal of personal loss.
Cowan based the exhibit on re-tellings of his life from family and friends and made the bronze casts from the actual Prosthetics Mazzeo used.
The exhibit will be at the UMaine Museum of Art in Bangor until the end of the month.
