ORONO – It looks like the next energy secretary may be heading to Maine.
Senator Angus King asked Rick Perry to meet with University of Maine students if he is appointed the head of the U.S. Department of Energy.
During his hearing today, King praised the work being done as part of a partnership between the University of Maine and the Department of Energy.
Senator King stated “It’s an amazing engineering school and engineering facility offshore wind, testing facility, nanotechnology, 3D printing, and I think you would find it very illuminating, so would love to have you come up. If you want to come in more like June or July rather than February, I’ll accept that.”
“Yes, sir. I’ll be there, Senator.” replied Perry.
Senator King said “That was the right answer.”
Senator Angus King also spoke about the importance of lowering the price liquefied natural gas.
