LIBERTY – Fire marshal’s are investigating a fire in liberty that completely destroyed a commercial garage Sunday night.
It happened around 7:20 p.m. on Augusta Road.
Liberty fire officials say there were multiple explosions due to ammunition and gas tanks in the garage.
A man renting the property was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening burns.
11 fire departments were called in to help. The biggest challenge, the cold and icy conditions.
Liberty Fire Chief Bill Gillespie said “You start putting water on it, it was freezing instantaneously, we’re having firefighters trying to move around on ice, it’s like skating with a charged line in your hands, it was next to impossible.”
Luckily no firefighters were hurt in the incident.
Fire marshal’s are interviewing residents of the building to determine what happened.
