AUGUSTA (WGME) – A Maine State Representative said he’s leaving the republican party.
Representive Kevin Battle of South Portland said he’ll become an independent instead. Battle, who was recently elected to a second term, said his exit comes with no hard feelings. He feels like he can serve his voters better without a party label.
Representative Kevin Battle, (I) South Portland said “No sour grapes it’s nothing trying to throw anything at the governor, just my own personal opinion, best to go as an independent; I think I can serve the constituency better.”
Meanwhile, Republican State Representative Stephen Wood of Sabattus said he is also considering leaving the Republican Party for political reasons.
He expects to make a decision next week.
