STATEWIDE – Several communities will benefit from more than $11 million in grants issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The money is expected to improve the quality of life in those rural communities by enhancing the local infrastructure.
The Winter Harbor Utility District is receiving a portion of the money to upgrade the wastewater treatment system.
Penquis Mental Health Association will receive $170,000 for a residential facility that would help adults with intellectual disabilities.
$4 million will help Eastport also upgrade its wastewater system.
And the Kennebec Montessori School will get $700,000 for a school addition for expanded elementary school classes.
