FORT FAIRFIELD – The collapse of a bandstand in Fort Fairfield can serve as a warning to all Mainers.
That’s the word from local town officials after the community bandstand collapsed under the weight of heavy snow. Public works crews noticed the destruction when they began plowing after the latest storm this morning.
The National Weather Service says that area of Maine has received 69 inches of snow this season.
It can be extremely heavy and cause problems like this if the snow isn’t removed.
It’s a big loss for Fort Fairfield where local residents all pitched in to raise money and build the bandstand.
Luckily, no one was hurt and it is insured.
