PORTLAND – Public works crews are also gearing up for the storm which looks to bring snow and slippery travel.
Yesterday crews were busy hooking up plows and loading trucks with sand and salt to prepare for tomorrow’s storm. While Bangor and other inland areas will see mostly snow, the coast is expected to also get a bit of rain .
Crews say that this will make travel extra difficult, especially if it freezes over and mixes with snow.
Portland public works operations manager Steven Earley said “It’s the snow over to rain along the coast that has us most worried, thats the most difficult storm for any municipality actually. (Lexie) and why is that? It’s just so hard to clean up clogs up catch basins hard to clean up freezes afterwards so it stays in place where ever it is.”
They say they have plenty of sand and salt for this storm and have more on order for the rest of the winter.
