PALMYRA – Maine State Police Troopers are often called when a rescue operation is underway.
But it was a different type of rescue this morning for a trooper who was traveling along the interstate in Palmyra.
Trooper Bernard Brunette spotted what appeared to be an owl stuck in a snow bank on the median side of the highway. It appeared to have been struck by a vehicle and was suffering from exposure.
The trooper covered it with a jacket and brought it to the Moosehead Trail Trading Post where it was placed in a box and warmed up.
It has since been turned over to Avian Haven which will work to help the bird recover.
