SEARSPORT – Coming along side Wreaths Across America, The veterans of Foreign Wars held a mimic service of the ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.
Worldwide people are joining alongside Arlington National Cemetery, placing wreaths on graves in honor of veterans.
“We’re honoring the branches of service and the POW/MIA by laying wreathes for the bridges service before we lay wreathes for the final resting places of service members,” said Commander James Roberts, “It’s about respect. We’re respecting those who have served, are serving, and for those who are going to serve in the future. We are honoring our namesakes and paying tribute to those who’ve carried the torch of freedom.”
The wreaths symbolize eternity and honor the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country
“I think people are starting to realize the commitment it was not only to the soldiers but for the families to give up so much that they gave up to protect,” said Commander James Wood.
The ceremony started at the same time as the one in Arlington, so that everyone could celebrate as one.
“It is all about honor and love,” said Roberts, “And respecting those that carry the burden for freedom.”
