GORHAM (WGME) – A father is killed and three young girls are in critical condition after a violent wreck in Gorham.
The crash happened Monday morning on Route 202 near Harding Road.
Gorham police said their car spun-out on snow-covered roads right into the path of a dump truck.
Five people were trapped in the SUV, a father, mother, two young daughters and a friend of one of their daughters.
Police said the father Joseph Piawlock, 45, of Gorham was in the passenger seat and died. The three girls were rushed to the hospital.
Several employees who worked at a nearby maid service ran down to try and help.
“They were all still in the vehicle. Two of the little girls were very much unconscious.” said witness Mary Hawk, “I know that one of the girls actually climbed into the vehicle to comfort the little girls that were in the backseat.”
Hawk stated while some of the maids held the children to make sure they didn’t move, others comforted the mother, Yvonne Piawlock, who was behind the wheel.
Police said the driver of the dump truck was shaken up, but not hurt.
