BELFAST – It is not quite Christmas yet, but that is not stopping Santa Claus from visiting some kids in Belfast for Holiday on The Harbor…
It is not his typical dashing through the snow routine. This year, Santa visits the city on a lobster boat. Despite the cold weather, families anxiously waited for Santa’s arrival on the water.
“All the good little boys and girls can down to greet us,” said Claus.
After arriving he took a carriage to the city’s boat house where families defrosted with hot cocoa and had their photos taken with Santa.
“It’s a tradition – growing to be around Santa and the whole Christmas spirit,” said Noel Rivard, an attendee.
“Santa is so magical, no matter what age you are,” said Michaelene Achorn, the executive director for the Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce, “When you are are around Santa you turn into a kid again. It’s so fun and it brings so much joy and everyone together.”
“Belfast is a beautiful town, it’s right on the water,” said Claus, “Sometimes we have the fire engine greeting us. There’s just a lot of excitement in Belfast.”
While waiting in line, kids were able to create gingerbread houses and received unique balloon animals. But the most important thing of all for them, was being able to tell Santa what they wanted from Christmas.
