BREWER – No shave November means a whole lot more this year.
Penobscot County Sheriffs Office traditionally has a strict policy concerning shaving. But for the month of November the officers were allowed to grow facial hair. All to benefit Eastern Maine Health Charities and the Brewer Cancer Care Center.
For a fee they were able to forgo shaving and participate in dress down Fridays.
Today they gave EMHS a check for $2,500. The money will be staying locally.
Wendy Lux, V.P. of Philanthropy EMMC said “With a cancer diagnosis it can be very expensive for people who might be out of work, people who have to come here and focus 100% on their health. Any way we can provide that comfort, provide any of these essential needs they need in order for them to get well.”
