HEBRON – It was a gruesome scene discovered by a neighbor in the town of Hebron.
That’s where Maine State Police said a man murdered his daughter before turning the gun on himself.
Daniel Randall, 60, is a retired pastor who moved his family to Maine this year from Rhode Island.
Police said he was released from an alcohol treatment center Thursday morning before going to his home and murdering his daughter, Claire Randall, 27.
He spray painted messages around the home to his family before going onto the porch and turning the shotgun on himself.
A neighbor made the discovery after being asked by Randall’s wife to go to the home to check on her daughter when she couldn’t be reached on the phone.
Police said Randall had become estranged from his family and had been served divorce papers earlier this week.
He didn’t have a key to the home and broke in through a garage door.
His estranged wife and a teenage son were not home when the shootings took place.
