COSTA RICA – A former Mainer is using his poker fame to help his new community.
Kurt Fitzgerald moved to Costa Rica 5 years ago so he could continue playing online poker professionally.
After finding himself as the number 1 player in Costa Rica and nineteenth overall in the world, he feels its time to pay it forward by using social media and his new found fame.
Costa Rica has suffered from its first ever recorded hurricane in 140 years. And the towns hit hardest have not seen the help they need this holiday season.
Fitzgerald said “Just the other day they took a big truck load of supplies and they were supposed to hit 3 different cities and they had barely enough for the first city before they ran out of supplies.”
One of the benefits of using social media and live hits is transparency of your donation. Fitzgerald wants his fans to feel safe about where their money is going and what it will be used for. He stated “I’m going to let everybody know about the total number of donations we have, going to make as many trips to the store as we need, going to show us buying groceries, receipts and introduce some of the people.”
