BANGOR – Now that the winter snow has started to arrive in Maine, local tire dealers are seeing a run on snow tires.
It happens every year. Some people wait until they see the first flakes falling from the sky before switching over.
That’s the case at Stratham Tire in Bangor which has seen business pick up this week as a result of the snow falling away from the city.
General Manager Ed Michaud said “This business is weather driven. As you know we really haven’t had much snow yet, but with a little bit of ice we had last week, it’s starting to get busy. Yeah, we have customers who travel quite a distance who come down to see us.you know, we cover very many zip codes, so we are having a lot of people traveling in from outlying areas that have seen snow already.”
Like a lot businesses that are dependent on snow, Michaud said he wishes it would snow sooner rather than later.
