MONROE – Sheriff’s deputies are trying to find the vandals who targeted a number of mailboxes in Monroe.
The Waldo County Sheriff’s Department said it was called to the back Brooks Road Friday morning after a resident discovered his mailbox had been destroyed. Someone had set it on fire, destroying the mailbox and the mail that was still inside.
The deputy received a similar report from a Waldo resident who also reported their mailbox had been burned. More burned mail was later recovered from a third person who’s living on Deer Run Drive in Waldo. Authorities say all three incidents remain under investigation and they hope tips from the public will lead to those responsible.
