BANGOR – The United Way of Eastern Maine is in need of volunteers for the 2016 tax season.
They are needed from January until April and will receive a free IRS certification training in December.
No prior experiences is necessary .
Volunteer Olivia Gamborato said “We couldn’t run the program without the volunteers helping us file those tax returns. We had 67 volunteers last year and we reach 5,000 tax payers. As our number of volunteers that goes up, the number of people filing their taxes for free goes up.”
The program brings over 20 organizations together to help Mainers with low and medium income. People will be able to have their tax returns prepared for free. To volunteer, contact the United Way of Eastern Maine to begin the application process.
