ORONO – It turned out to be a very expensive weekend for some people parked at the University of Maine.
Police are looking for the crooks who stole catalytic converters from eight vehicles. The thefts occurred early Saturday morning at several parking lots around campus.
It appears the thieves cut the converters from the vehicles with plans to turn them into metal recyclers for cash.
The vehicles include four Hondas, two Acuras and two Chevy Cavaliers.
The UMaine Police Department hopes to hear from anyone with information about the thefts.
