Chinese program draws students to Bangor for "global learning"

BANGOR - There is some global learning happening in Bangor.

The Bangor Chinese School is holding its summer programs for both teachers and students.

For the 8th year, those at the school have been preparing students to be global citizens, by learning the Chinese culture and language. It's all possible thanks to two grants.

"The Bangor Chinese School, our slogan is 'Thinking globally and acting locally,'" says Jing Zhang, the president of the Bangor Chinese School.

The program draws people from across the country to Bangor. Frank Daley-Young traveled from Washington, D.C. to take part in the class, saying, "Diplomacy via language is very important and it will be of great importance later in life for me."

When the program wraps up, 15 students will be traveling to China for an additional three weeks of study.
