Pine Tree Broadcasting buys four radio stations and launches classic country format

BANGOR - If you like you country music then listen up! More music is coming to your car after a local radio station announced it is branching out.

Pine Tree Broadcasting, which also owns The Wave, recently bought WWNZ 1400 am, which will now be known as The Country Road. And this station will offer something different than the other stations.

"It's a new format, it's playing the greatest hits from the decades back, from Waylon and Willie, Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette, the early Reba McIntyre and George Straight collection. It's just something you can get 24/7 and I had one person tell me today, 'finally, I can hear this without having to pay for satellite radio,' and I said, 'you bet!'" said Paul Dupuis, Pine Tree Broadcasting, general manager.

Country Road launched this weekend, and has received positive feedback so far.

In addition to WWNZ, Pine Tree Broadcasting recently acquired Bangor radio stations WGUY 1230 am and 94.1 fm as well as WNZS 13.40 am.
