ORLAND – A quick response by first responders helped stop a fire in Orland from getting worse.
It happened after 4, yesterday afternoon, at a home on Narramissic Street. Six trucks from both the Orland and Bucksport fire departments, responded on scene. The fire engulfing most of the home’s attic.
“They had to cut a fair amount of the roof off and pull down ceilings to get water in there and get the fire out. The fire extended the entire length of the attic about the space.” Julia Clark, Assistant Fire Chief, Orland Dire Department
The cause of the fire is still undetermined, but officials say it may have started in the bathroom. No one was inured.
“No people home at the time, there was a cat and we were able to successfully get the cat out. The cat looked like it was fine when we got it out of the building.” Julia Clark, Assistant Fire Chief, Orland Dire Department
Officials say the roof and attic are destroyed. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
