A well known doctor in the Bangor area has announced he’s moving on. Doctor Erik Steele is currently the chief medical officer for the Eastern Maine Healthcare System and has decided to take on a similar position with an organization in Akron, Ohio. Along with helping to run the hospitals in the region, Steele continues to practice medicine and has been a champion for healthcare reform. He tells us the move is one of the hardest decisions he has ever made. Doctor steele says his time with EMHS has been extraordinary and says he’s proud the system has worked hard to improve healthcare while making it more affordable. Steele is expected to wrap up his good work here and move on to Ohio in May.
