BANGOR – A Northern Light Health official says 10 employees have tested positive for the coronavirus.
According to Dr. James Jarvis, that’s the combined number of positive cases so far for all of Northern Light Health’s 10 hospitals.
During a media briefing Friday afternoon, Jarvis urged people to continue following the Center for Disease Control guidelines, including hand washing and social distancing.
“I know that there are people who are concerned, particularly after they go grocery shopping, that their groceries themselves can spread the infection. Right now we have no evidence that food is a source for spreading the infection,” Jarvis said.
Jarvis said planning is underway to locate alternate sites where patients can be treated if the number of COVID-19 cases increases beyond hospital capacity.
