Healthy Acadia will offer Responsible Beverage Server and Seller Training

Machias. Maine’s busy tourist season is upon us, and many stores, restaurants, and bars have brought on new staff to help serve the summer crowds. Healthy Acadia, with funding support from Maine Prevention Services, a Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention Initiative, is offering Responsible Beverage Server and Seller (RBS) Trainings to provide anyone employing or managing individuals who sell or serve alcoholic beverages an opportunity to provide their staff with the knowledge they need to prevent violations of liquor laws.

RBS trainings provide participants with knowledge to better identify and prevent violations of liquor laws, with an emphasis on underage and high-risk drinkers. Employees will increase their knowledge of liquor laws and receive training on best practices to identify minors and visibly intoxicated persons.

Responsible Beverage Server and Seller Trainings will be offered on Thursday, June 14, 2018 in the conference room at the Sunrise County Economic Council office in Machias (7 Ames Way). An On-Premise Training – for employees of restaurants, hotels and bars, where alcohol is sold for consumption on site – will meet from 8am to 11am.  An Off-Premise Training – for employees of retail and liquor stores where alcohol is sold for consumption off-site – will meet from 12pm to 3pm.

The cost for training is $10 per person. All participants will receive a certification valid for 5 years.
