PORTLAND – Portland Sea Dogs fans are accustomed to seeing Red Sox stars get their feet wet right at Hadlock Field before making the jump to bigger and better things.
Thursday night fans got a special treat as one of the best and most beloved Red Sox players made his first trip to Hadlock since 2005.
Dustin Pedroia suited up Thursday night for the Sea Dogs. The Red Sox second baseman is in the midst of a rehab stint with the Double-A squad.
Pedroia landed on the injured list back in April after feeling knee discomfort. He finished the game going 0-3 with two fly outs to right center field. Pedroia’s goal is to get healthy and return to the big leagues, but he was happy to be back in a place that served as a trampoline for what has been stellar career.
“Feels good, it doesn’t carry to right center though. Other than that it’s great, good atmosphere obviously I was here in 2005 long time ago but it’s a great place to play that’s for sure,” Pedroia said.
