Prisoners moved from Downeast Correctional Facility, employees on paid administrative leave Featured

MACHIASPORT - Jim Mackie with AFSCME Council 9 has confirmed security teams and Maine State Police showed up at the Downeast Correctional Facility around 4:40 a.m. this morning and started removing prisoners.

Employees are being put on paid administrative leave and will be laid off on March 3rd, according to a letter from State of Maine Department of Corrections that was handed out Friday morning. 

We will update this story as we learn more.
